The latest system from Alan Haslehurst, the developer of the popular Topographical Assessment System, is a web based compliance management database called CabFiles, which is an internet based data management system. Alan has been associated with the Cab trade for 20 years having started as an operator and Chairman of the original London Private Hire Car Association.
Together with Steve Wright he formed the current Association which can be found at www.lphca.co.uk and continues to be a supporter of the Associations activities.
The Topographical Assessment system that has been very popular with members of the LPHCA and is now in use at over 50 member organisations and has been used to deliver over 10,000 successful assessments.
CabFiles was originally developed as a “stand alone” product to address the growing need to keep copies of documents to comply with Licensing Authority, Inland Revenue and other important organisation’s requirements. Most Authorities (including the PCO) will now accept scanned documents in place of traditional photocopies, which will pave the way to the ‘paperless office’. In order to achieve greater efficiency and reduce user costs a decision was taken to convert the standalone application to a web based system. This will also result in opening up future developments including closer integration with other databases and Licensing authority records.
The holding of driver and vehicle records in CabFiles will manage a full history of every scanned document. This will considerably reduce administrative effort and the potential for clerical error, consolidating all documents into a single paperless system which simplifies the process and ensures a full reminder process is in place.
